Welcome to Bradway Primary

Our school value this half term (Autumn 2) is Respect            .

Welcome to Bradway Primary School. I have been Headteacher at this school since 2002 and during that time there have been many changes in education. Through all these changes we have held true to two basic beliefs and principles about what makes a good school and a good learner. Firstly, our school motto, 'Learning Through Enjoyment' highlights the importance that we place on ensuring that Bradway Primary school is a happy place to be and that the content of the curriculum is stimulating, relevant and engaging for our pupils. Our success in achieving this culture in school is supported by the fact that in our last four inspections Ofsted have particularly commented on the quality of our curriculum. (Read More)

Mr Stones has launched a new writing competition for KS1 and KS2 pupils to enter. This time, it is a Christmas themed competition.

Just like the last writing competition, there are no rules. However, this time,
there is a challenge - to include 5 of the 10 words that are on the writing display in the hall. The challenge words are:

anticipating

All entries will be put on display. Everyone who enters the competition will get a sticker and there will be runner up prizes. One piece of writing from each class will be selected as the winning entry.

If you need any writing paper, please ask your teacher.

Please take all entries to Mr Stones.
Closing date: Monday 17th December
GOOD LUCK.

Bradway Primary School Remembrance Event

Bradway Primary School Remembrance Event

Thursday 8th November 10:45am on the School Playground

As you will already be aware, this year marks the centenary of the end of the First World War. As always, the pupils and staff of our school would like to commemorate this significant historical event.

We shall be holding a remembrance event on the school infant playground on Thursday this week. Please arrive promptly if you wish to join us. We would love to see as many parents, grandparents and friends of Bradway as possible. Some of the children will be reciting poems from the War and Mr Stockley will be playing the Last Post on a bugle followed by the two minutes’ silence.

In addition, the pupils have already produced beautiful poppies in art lessons creating a magnificent display in the school hall. This image has been entered into a competition run by the British Legion and School Art Association. You are more than welcome to pop in to see the display after the event, but the image below gives you a flavour.

PLEASE NOTE
Should the weather be bad, then, unfortunately, the outside event will not take place and the children will take just take part in an assembly indoors instead.

What's been happening at Bradway?

It has been a great half term so far with many exciting activities taking place. Both our boys' and our girls' Year 5 and 6 football teams have got through to the Sheffield finals of an English Schools Football Association competition. In other news we have had Forest Schools sessions with Tom on Wednesdays which have been very well received by the children involved. Classes are also having regular Philosophy For Children sessions in which they are asking questions such as 'is being artistic inherited or is it something you learn?' Parents are being invited to attend sessions to see what happens first hand  so look out for an invite for your child's class. Feedback from a recent session was very positive:  'Great opportunity to get all the children involved in discussions, sharing views and ideas. Very enjoyable session. Good to see children enjoying learning.'
We've still got three weeks to go so there's plenty of time for more wonderful learning to happen.
