There is a great deal of research evidence suggesting that pupil performance can be improved if parents are aware of how they can support their child's learning at home. Most of you are very willing to help, time permitting, and of course you want the best for your child, but it is not always easy for you to know how best to do this. The year group blogs on this website and our year group 'Welcome Packs' are an important part of this communication with you, sharing what your child is doing in school and how you can help to support them in the main curriculum areas during the year.
Each year we have targeted workshops for parents and pupils. They are designed to help parents who want to support their child with Maths or Literacy
at home.
Schools of course have a huge part to play in the rate of a pupil's progress; that’s what we’re here for. However, if we can work in closer partnership with you as parents, involving you more in their learning, we are sure that this will have a really positive impact on individual children's progress.
Maths
Having invested this year in Education City for all pupils from FS2 to Year 6, we are really pleased that most pupils are now using the program at home and are very excited about it.
Please note there is an app: Puffin Academy, which can be used to make Education City accessible on ipads and other tablets.
If your child is not able to access Education City at home, please let their class teacher know.
Please find below our Route Through Calculation document, covering FS2 to Year 6.

English
There are many aspects to the development of literacy in young children. We would ask you to support your child in exploring which ever topic they are learning about. However, we would like to emphasise that the most important thing you can do as a parent to support your child's progress in Literacy is to read with them and to them daily.
