A chilly Science Walk

This week Y1 went on a chilly Science walk to the playground. Their mission was to find out what force they used to make the play equipment move. Was it a push, pull or a push and a pull?

Thinking back to their previous learning, they were encouraged to discuss how it moved after no force, a small or a large force. The children had the opportunity to make predictions and test out the equipment for themselves.

The children were very surprised with their results and noticed that some of the equipment could be moved in different ways. They also realised that sometimes you had to apply a different force to keep it moving or to make it stop.
