Year 5 Peer Coaching

In numeracy lessons, we have been developing a peer coaching system. This involves some of the Year 6 children mentoring the Year 5 pupils in areas of their maths learning that they want to improve. Each Tuesday and Friday, the Year 5 children welcome their ‘maths’ buddy’ for an hour to work on their calculations and discuss their learning. It has been going really well so far, and the feedback from the children has been incredibly positive. Below are just some of the comments that the children have written to each other during these sessions:

"Your concentration has been amazing today! Even when you have found it hard, you have carried on trying and then you get there!! Well done Kiera!!" - Mia, Y6

"Thank you for helping me with my division today because I know them all now." – Kiera, Y5
