Caring and sharing

We've been looking at friendships and the importance of being supportive, inclusive and encouraging to one another. We drew pictures of happy, smiling faces and then cut them into jigsaw pieces. We then read a story about a girl who felt upset because her friends kept putting her down and making cruel remarks. Each time there was a put down, we removed a piece of the jigsaw puzzle. By the end of the story, there were no jigsaw pieces left. This showed us that each time we laugh at someone, leave someone out or are mean about someone, we are hurting them and making them upset bit by bit, removing a little bit of their self esteem and confidence. Hopefully this will remind us that we need to be kind and thoughtful towards everybody in the class and think before we speak!

We're all in this together!

This morning, the children designed their own learning droids for a competition to find the best class droid.!  Tomorrow, the winner will be revealed and its name announced.  Stay tuned to find out which droid wins!  May the force be with you.

In the afternoon, upper Key Phase 2 (Years 5&6) had a session of team building games, led by Mr Yates.  The two year groups worked brilliantly together and it was clear to see from the looks on their faces, how much children benefit from working together.  From September, we are looking forward to working more closely as a key phase, pooling our talents and sharing our success.

Friendships

In our recent Learning4Life lessons, we've been looking at how powerful friendships can be.  When we have a good friendship support group, we feel happier coming to school, which can have a positive affect upon our learning.  This picture is one of many friendship groups that really make a difference in and outside of the classroom.  Working together, we can achieve so much more!
