Another busy week in Year1
Friday 02 Dec 2016
We have had yet another busy week in Year 1 and even though most of the children are full of cold, they have still managed to stay focussed and try their hardest.
In Maths, we have been focussing on counting in 5’s. The children have been recognising multiples of 5, looking for patterns and continuing counting sequences. They have been using the star words; count, multiple, fives. tens, before, after and order when working with their talk partners.
In Literacy, we have been doing letter and word building activities. These have included dictations and understanding how words are made up. The children have played games recognising and creating their own CVC, CCVC and CVCC words. They showed great resourcefulness and have worked together supporting each other’s learning.
Mrs Smith’s class have worked really hard to collect all their dragons’ tears and after a class vote they decided to watch a DVD this afternoon.
Just a quick reminder that we need your child’s costume for Manger Mouse as soon as possible in a labelled bag. If you are unsure what they need please do not hesitate to ask.
Have a nice weekend
