Space and subtraction
Friday 20 Jan 2017
This week we have started subtraction in maths. Ask the children if they can tell you the maths star words?
They have worked really hard creating subtraction number sentences and using the method of counting back to calculate the answer. When ordering the digits in the number sentences the hardest part was to remember to always put the largest number first. We shall continue with subtraction again next week.
In Literacy we have continued our space adventure with Bob. On Thursday the children were selected to be astronauts and got to travel to the moon. They had many important jobs to complete once they landed. They had to check craters for aliens, repair the rocket, moonwalk, take photographs and put up the special Bradway flag. As with any good trip, it was essential that they sent a postcard to Mr Stockley to let him know what a wonderful time they were having.
A quick reminder that Y1PL are going to the mini Olympics on Monday. They will go in their normal PE kit. Please can you double check that they have their full kit in school on Monday.
Thank you the Year 1 team
