A big thank you to all parents and carers who attended our recent SATS meeting - what a wonderful turnout! If you couldn't attend, your child should have come home with a brown folder containing the hand-outs and sample SATS documents. If you haven't received yours, please pop in and see your child's teacher.
In Literacy this week, we have been looking at what makes a good character description. We have included detail about appearance, movement, personality and feelings. Over the weekend, why not have a go at describing your favourite book or film character and try to include a few sentences on each of the above - extra team-points for those who manage to use an exclamation sentence! Remember, this sentence has to begin with a 'what' or 'how' and also contain a verb. E.g. 'What a kind young lady she is!' 'How determined he is!' 'What a lovely friend he would make!'
In Numeracy, we have been comparing numbers by using the terms 'greater than', 'less than' and 'equal to' and writing the corresponding symbols. We will be applying this knowledge next week, when we learn about measures, including; capacity, mass, length and temperature.
This week, we have been having some time consuming, upsetting and problematic issues regarding toys being brought into school. Children have been swapping, giving and borrowing one another's toys which has caused disputes at playtimes. These issues are then brought back into the classroom, affecting valuable teaching time. We have spoken to the children involved and will speak to all children on Monday. We have decided that instead of banning toys for all, we will allow children to bring one small toy into school that needs to stay in their tray/bag during lesson times. They are not to swap, play with, give or borrow one another's toys to reduce problems and upset. If this does not work, we will sadly have to ban toys in school.
On a final, happier note, we'd like to wish Mrs Wales a very special, big (and we mean massive!) Happy Birthday for this weekend !!!
......How young she still looks!...... What a wonderful time we hope she has!
(Please note and appreciate our efforts to include exclamation sentences.)
Have a lovely weekend!
