Friday 22nd April

Friday 22 Apr 2016

We have had an extremely busy time in Maths this week learning all about measures and units of measure.  We have been estimating and measuring by reading different scales.  We now know what capacity is and that it is measured in litres and millilitres.  We had fun on Wednesday measuring the mass of objects in the classroom, using balance scales.  Yesterday we were measuring temperature using thermometers and today we have been measuring length, using metres and centimetres!

Why not practise your measuring skills at home this weekend with some baking!

In Literacy we have been writing character descriptions all about the main character in 'Mr Wolf's Pancakes'. We had to make sure our sentences made sense and that they were full of exciting adjectives. Some of us have also written book reviews about our favourite Julia Donaldson book. We found this quite tricky!

In topic, we have finished off our history unit all about real life heroes and heroines. After learning about Florence NIghtingale and Harriet Tubman, we concluded with Dr Barnado. Why not ask your child about the work he did?

We are currently retesting all the children on the Y2 Common Exception Word List.  Please continue to work with your child on spelling these words at home.

Many thanks
Y2 Team
