Children have been busy this week writing the most amazing letters to their class teacher. They have been writing as if they are Michael, the character from a book entitled ‘Dear Teacher’. The letters have been full of exaggeration, exclamation marks and questions. They have really enjoyed writing them and have had great fun illustrating them too!
In Maths we have been looking at properties of 2D and 3D shapes. This has included names of shapes and symmetry. The children have enjoyed using their cutting out skills, folding and drawing lines of symmetry on to shapes and also learning new vocabulary including, horizontal, vertical, diagonal and vertices!
In Science children have been continuing their work on materials and in topic we have introduced the Great Fire of London. Art this week has concentrated on painting fire engines. We are going to starting a Design Technology unit of work after half term on vehicles. The children will be making a model fire engine. A letter was sent home last week asking you to provide your child with a cardboard box. The box needs turning inside out, (so that the paint will stick to it) securing with masking tape and naming.
We also sent out a letter last week regarding a very special visitor, 'Florence Nightingale' who will be coming in to school on the first Friday back after the holidays. This visit is linked to our new History topic on real life heroes.
