Rocking around the clock
Thursday 15 Oct 2015
The children have been hard at work this week and it is hard to believe we have almost done half a term.
This week in Maths we have been looking at time, days of the week , months of the year and everything in between. There are some key facts in maths that children just have to learn - these include:
How many days in a year?
How many weeks in a year?
How many months in a year?
How many minutes in an hour?
How many seconds in a minute?
How many hours in a day?
How many days in a week?
How many days in a month?
How many years in a decade, century, millennium?
Hopefully your child now knows these, if not please could you help to reinforce these key facts at home. We have also been looking at analogue and digital clocks and looking at half past and o'clock. We will be moving on to quarter past and quarter to and then on to telling the time accurately to the nearest five minutes.
In Literacy the children have been enjoying riddles, reading them and improving them before planning and writing their own.
They have been busy designing Christmas cards in Art in preparation for them being printed and for you to possibly order:-)
Just a reminder that children are expected to do 30 minutes of maths whizz per week - most children are managing to do this now but please do come and see us if you are having difficulty accessing the internet at home.
Next week we will be continuing with time and looking at reading comprehensions and grammar. It is time to think about casting for our Christmas Production too so please do talk to your child about this to ensure they volunteer, if they are interested in a speaking part.
Many thanks for your continued support.
