Bradway Primary School

Investigations, Investigations.

Sunday 19 Jun 2016

Well, we have had a busy week at Bradway this week. The children have been role playing in literacy using various voices and expressions. We have some wonderful actors in Y4!! The posh voices were a big favourite and pretending to be a lost princess was very interesting! Well done for stepping into role one particular boy in Y4KB!! Can't wait for the playscripts to be written this week, we are really looking forward to reading them and seeing you guys perform them!!

Maths has been brilliant this week. We have done lots of subtraction work and then moved onto problem solving. Everyone has been amazing at this and worked really hard. Some of those problems were very tricky and took some time to solve!! We did it though!

Friday was leave the classroom day across the country. We decided to do a maths investigation involving algebra and nature. The children had to work in groups and solve various algebra questions which were challenging. They also had to do other tasks along the way including collecting an amount of leaves and solve a code. The children worked really well and a lot of them really used the skills they had learned at Thornbridge which was lovely to see. After, we had some reflection time and discussed how the children had worked and what the positives and negatives were throughout the morning.

In Art, we continued with our Steel theme and mod-rocked the steel sculptures we had created before the holidays. It was messy but the children did a brilliant job. The sculptures are going to look fantastic once they have been "bronzed" and the children should be very proud of the effort they have put in. A big thank you to all the grown ups who came into help. We couldn't have done it without you!

Finally this week, Y4 and Bradway said goodbye to two Spanish students who have been at school for three months. Alex and Jairo have helped out loads in Y4 and the children are really going to miss them. They have been on all our trips and helped out in PE and art in class. We gave them a good send off and two huge cards the children helped to make. Hopefully they will keep in touch and tell the children all about life in Spain!!

Hopefully, you have had a good weekend despite the rain!!
See you all at school!
