All Things Bright and Beautiful!
Thursday 20 Oct 2016
Well another fun filled week in Y5!! The children have been looking at the features of Story Settings and have found out just what is needed for a great one. We will be continuing with this after half term.
Maths has been all about reasoning. The children have been presented with different statements and had to discuss, decide and prove the statements through reasoning and making links with their maths knowledge. The children have really enjoyed this and it has been fantastic to see the different discussions taking place.
Mayans will continue to be our topic after half term. We will be doing an archaeological dig, making Mayan hot chocolate as well as death masks.
For Harvest we looked at the various issues and causes of Famine around the world. The children did an excellent Learning for Life session. They discussed and created open questions to ask. We also looked at the traditions behind Harvest Festivals and why we have them today.
In the afternoon we went outside with the drums and created our own versions of an African Rain Dance!! We had lots of fun!!
Have a lovely half term, please stay safe and enjoy the break!
See you all on Halloween!! Spooky!!
