Masks at the ready!
Saturday 12 Nov 2016
Well another busy week in Y5! The children have been writing their story settings, using lots of figurative language, a range of senses and parenthesis to add lots of detail. They look amazing and we have really enjoyed reading them.
Maths has been looking at Roman numbers and working out different calculations, solving codes and writing their own date of birth. It was very tricky at times but the children showed lots of resilience when doing the work.
We held our auditions this week for the Christmas concert, the children were brilliant and we have some amazing actors in Y5. We can't wait for the rehearsals to start!
PE has continued with football skills and the coach from S.U.F.C has been very impressed with the children and how hard they have been working.
In topic we have started our Mayan masks. There was newspaper everywhere, lots of paste on hands and places where it shouldn't be!! So far so good though, the children have made a great start! We should hopefully get then finished in the next couple of weeks.
On Friday we held a special Remembrance assembly. The whole school sat in the hall and paid their respect to all those who fought in all the wars. The children were absolutely brilliant and it was very moving. In class, we created some Remembrance poems and the children came up with some wonderful ideas. Once we have backed them they will be on display in the classroom for you to come and read.
Finally, don't forget parents evening is next Wednesday and Thursday and the following Wednesday. If you haven't already booked a time to come and speak to us, please do. We are really looking forward to meeting you and sharing all your child's learning.
Thank you for all your continued support.
Have a lovely weekend.
The Year 5 team.
