May the Forces Be With You!
Wednesday 05 Jul 2017
We've had a great week learning about Forces this week. We started the week learning about Sir Isaac Newton and his three law's of motion.
On Tuesday, we investigated water resistance and tested different shaped boats to find out which shape travelled through the water best. We then went on to learn about air resistance and played with gyrocopters. Wednesday saw us putting everything we had learnt about air resistance into practice, designing costumes to slow our runners down.
On Thursday, we investigated the four Forces of flight, particularly thrust and lift and spent Friday morning testing paper planes for speed, stability, lift and distance. Our topic finished with some fantastic artwork based on birds.. The children were given the chance to design their own 'Bird on a Wire' pictures.
We hope you'll be able to join us for the picnic, where we will be able to make some amazing paper planes and carry out experiments linked to thrust.
