Perfect poetry!

Tuesday 30 Jun 2015

This week in literacy we are looking at poetry. We have discussed and performed a poem called, 'The Sea', focusing on the different features of language it contains such as precise nouns, rhyme, metaphors and personification. Today we looked at using alliteration in a poem. We thought of an animal, then decided on an an adjective, verb and adverb starting with the same letter as that animal to describe what it looked like and how it moved.

Can you think of any alliterative sentences for these animals? Write them in the comments!

In addition, as the weather is getting warmer, children are tending to leave water bottles and jumpers out on the field at lunchtime. If the items are named, they generally find their way back to the child's class, but if not, they will go to lost property in the office. If your child has lost an item of clothing this year, please check the office. Daniel Mellers has recently lost a brand new school jumper. It is named, so we are asking if parents could please check their child's jumper to check that they have not taken it home by mistake.

Thanks!

The Y5 team.
