Should We Or Shouldn't We?
Friday 27 Nov 2015
What a fantastic start to our new literacy unit. We have begun a new topic on argument texts and kicked off the unit with a Philosophy for Children session. This is where the children are provided with a stimulus, they then think about what it makes them think and feel, from here the children generate their own questions to discuss. Both classes came up with similar questions and discussed whether it is ever ok to shoot animals. There was some fantastic discussion and the children were all very passionate about their views and ideas. Next week we will go on to look at how we can take those initial arguments and turn them into well constructed persuasive texts.
In maths we have been investigating the perimeter of simple and compound shapes. The children were out and about yesterday, measuring and calculating the perimeter of the playground.
Our preparation for the Christmas production is now well on it's way. We made all the head dresses and masks this week and had our first rehearsal in the hall. Hopefully your child has brought home a note explaining what they will need to wear. If there are any problems sourcing the costumes, please let us know as soon as possible so we can help to organise something.
If any children have offered to help on the book stall tomorrow, please just come along and help at the time that suits you best. Thanks very much for your help.
Have a great weekend.
